Description

The Newfoundland Vaginal Infection Test Kit is an easy at-home test to help detect common vaginal infections such as bacterial vaginosis (BV) and thrush. It works by measuring your vaginal pH level to help you understand whether an imbalance may be causing discomfort.

This test is ideal for anyone experiencing soreness, itching, or unusual vaginal discharge. It can help you quickly check if your symptoms are linked to an infection so you can seek medical advice and the right treatment as soon as possible.

Each test kit includes:

  • A vaginal swab
  • pH test strip with colour scale for easy reading
  • Clear instructions for safe and simple use
(You’ll just need a timer to check the result.)

How do you perform the test?

Normal range
Vaginal pH levels in the range of 3.8-4.4 are within the normal range. The colour of the indicator is yellow-green.
Abnormal range
When the pH level is over 4.4, the colour of the indicator is green-blue, suggesting bacterial vaginosis or trichomoniasis vaginalis.
When the pH level is under 3.8, it is bright yellow and indicates a yeast infection such as thrush.

Frequently Asked Question

1. What does the Vaginal Infection Test Kit detect?
It detects abnormal vaginal pH levels, helping to identify potential infections like bacterial vaginosis, yeast infections, or trichomoniasis.

2. How accurate is the Newfoundland Vaginal Infection Test Kit?
When used correctly, the test provides over 90% accuracy in detecting abnormal vaginal pH, a key indicator of infection.

3. Can I use the test during menstruation or after intercourse?
No, avoid testing during your period or within 24 hours of sexual activity, douching, or using vaginal products to ensure accurate results.

4. What do the test results mean?
A color change indicates a pH imbalance. A high pH level (usually above 4.5) may suggest bacterial vaginosis or trichomoniasis, while normal pH (3.8–4.5) may indicate a yeast infection or no infection.

5. Do I still need to see a doctor if I get a positive result?
Yes. This is a screening tool, not a diagnosis. Always consult a healthcare provider for confirmation and appropriate treatment.
